The idea of canning just a jar of chicken or beef kinda grosses me out but when i see it like this...i get it. Its no different than opening a can of soup with meat. I do think a whole bay leaf is a lot for a quart jar. I thi k i would skip that. Tilting those jars on the way in is a terrible idea. You can cause a seal failure. Same with the way out. You should lift them straight up and out. Never tilt, the displacement of the air can pop a seal. Science...not just old wives tale

Nice to see you Abbey. Years ago we picked blackberries and made wine and distilled it into a blackberry brandy and that was to be saved for special occasions like Xmas hmmm well it never lasted that long it was so good. Just poured over a bit of ice. Amazing. After our wine would do its thing we would squeeze all the fruit through a large cheesecloth and the must we would give to the pigs. Well not realizing that the pigs could get drunk! So needless to say the pigs didn't receive any more must. They had a hard time getting up the ramp into their pen. I love making a blackberry savory sauce for my salmon and even other fish but salmon is the best. Some balsamic vinegar/maple syrup/basil and of course the star blackberries. Just fabulous! Along with a tossed salad with blackberries. Cheers

I'd love to see your animal morning chores! Do you have a video on making some syrup concentrate? I'd like to use up some strawberries to flavor my kombucha. I find just adding berries doesn't make it very fizzy, it ends up pretty flat! So a syrup might be better? 🤷‍♀️
